Credit Recovery

Credit Recovery

What is the Sierra Sands Credit Recovery Distance Learning model?

Students in the Credit Recovery program are at an advantage during this shift to Distance Learning because the way Credit Recovery students access instruction does not change.  Only the location from which they access their courses will be different. Students will continue to receive instruction through our Credit Recovery program, Acellus.  Credit will only be awarded to students who have completed the required lessons.

What is the expectation for student learning?

Just as we welcome students onto our campuses and into our classrooms, we welcome them into the “virtual classrooms” through Acellus. Just as students are expected to enter through the physical door of a classroom, students and families should “enter” their classrooms through the Acellus Application and sign in.  All Credit Recovery students should continue to engage in learning during school closures.

Technology/Internet Support

How do I access Acellus?

Acellus can be accessed through any device that has internet connectivity. Parents can check on progress through their cell phone, but students may find it difficult to complete assignments on a phone.

What if I need a learning device/Chromebook?

How does my student login to Acellus?

  • Proceed to https://www.acellus.com/ and click on the Student Sign-In student button , enter the student's sign-in information.

  • If the student has lost the login information, please email the teacher of the course, or  [email protected].

What if my student  doesn’t remember his/her logon information?

If the student has lost the login information, please email the teacher of the course, or j[email protected].

How do I acquire a parent account to check on the student’s progress?

On the student’s Acellus home page, click on the “Parent Registration” button.  Up to four email addresses can be entered to receive an invitation to register as a parent.

What if I have a question about an assignment?

Contact the assigned teacher through email.

My student is ready for an exam.  How do we get an exam unlocked?

During this time of distance learning, all exams have been unlocked for students.  We request that parents monitor the student for honesty when taking an exam. Students are allowed to use the notes they have taken in the course on the exams. If for some reason, a test is locked, email the teacher of the course or Mr Cosner

How will credit be awarded?

For Acellus courses, the evidence that is required are the notes for each course.  At some point in the future, we will ask students to turn in the notes for each course so please keep them in a safe place.  Graduating seniors may scan or email their notes to  Mr. Cosner.
