Notice of Trustee Resignation and Provisional Appointment
Trustee Kurt Rockwell has submitted his resignation to the Sierra Sands Unified School District Board, effective March 17, 2025. Consequently, in accordance with Board Bylaw 9223, the Board has decided to make a provisional appointment to fill the vacancy. The process will involve advertising, interviewing, and selecting an individual for the At-Large position.

The District invites individuals interested in serving on the Sierra Sands Unified School District Board of Trustees to submit an application and resumé to the Superintendent’s Office by 4:30 p.m. on March 7, 2025. Interested candidates should complete the enclosed information sheet to assist the Board in making a careful and objective selection.
Board Meetings and Time Commitment
Regular board meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month, with occasional special meetings as needed. Board members are also expected to invest personal time in individual study and growth, including attending district, state, and/or national meetings.

Please return the completed information sheet along with your resumé via email to [email protected] or deliver it to the Superintendent’s Office at 113 W. Felspar Ave., Ridgecrest, CA 93555 by 4:30 p.m. on March 7, 2025.
Interview and Appointment Schedule
The Board will conduct interviews on the evening of March 17, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the District Office. An appointment will be made at that time. This schedule and appointment process conform to the legal requirements set by California Education Code 5091.
