Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.

Sierra Sands Unified School District is a sponsor of the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program. Our department’s goal is to provide nutritious meals, thereby increasing children’s ability to learn. To accomplish this goal the Sierra Sands Child Nutrition Department develops and promotes high quality meals, designed to provide our students with a significant portion of their daily nutritional needs. Menus are planned to ensure children receive the necessary balance of calories, fiber, and nutrients that will enable them to learn and grow.

The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.
