Inclement Weather Updates

Sierra Sands Unified School District
August 20, 2023 Inclement Weather Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The City of Ridgecrest has announced a state of emergency due to expected excessive rain and flooding due to Tropical Storm Hilary. Residents are encouraged to stay home.

In an abundance of caution, we have decided to close all schools on Monday, August 21. We will not be able to serve food on Monday. We expect to reopen on Tuesday, August 22.

The safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. We ask that everyone stay home and safe. Please follow the recommendations of the local emergency management agencies and check the weather forecast regularly.

We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated on any changes to our school operations via email, phone, and social media.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school. Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,
April Moore, Ed.D.
Superintendent
