California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is designed to give information to teachers, students, and their families about what students know and are able to do and whether they are on track to be ready for success in college or a career when they graduate from high school. Each spring, students take the following assessments:

Grades 3-8 and 11--Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments in English Language Arts/Literacy and Mathematics or California Alternate Assessments (CAA)*

Grades 5, 8, and Once in High School--California Science Test or CAA for Science*

*Available for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities, if the CAA is designated in their active Individualized Education Program (IEP).
