This past week, students in our CTE Aerospace Pre‑Apprenticeship Program participated in mock interviews—an exciting and important step in preparing for future careers.
As part of the program’s work readiness training, students practiced professional interview skills, shared their experiences, and received valuable feedback to help them build confidence and real‑world readiness. These mock interviews are a key component of preparing students for success beyond the classroom.
This grant‑funded program is made possible through a strong partnership with the Kern County Superintendent of Schools and the South Bay Workforce Investment Board, working together to create meaningful career pathways for our students.
We are proud of our students for stepping up, dressing professionally, and putting their skills into action—and grateful to our partners for supporting opportunities that connect learning to the world of work.

We are so proud of our talented Burroughs High School musicians and their recent achievements at CMEA (California Music Educators Association) Ratings Festivals!
On March 19, our BHS Madrigals traveled to Bakersfield High School to perform for an audience and a panel of four regional choral experts. Their dedication and artistry earned them a Unanimous Superior* rating for both performance and sight reading!
The following week, the Burroughs Symphonic Orchestra traveled to Tulare Union High School for the CMEA High School Orchestra Ratings Festival. They also received a Unanimous Superior* rating — with one judge awarding the ensemble a perfect score of 100! 🎉
Both ensembles are excited to share their award‑winning music with the Ridgecrest community at their Spring Concerts:

Missed a few school days? We’re here to help. Our Attendance Recovery program gives students the chance to catch up, stay on track, and feel confident—with flexible options for families.
As you think about the rest of the school year:

--What would “getting back on track” look like for your child?
If your child attends an elementary school and participates in the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP), this opportunity is available to you.
🧩 Program Overview
Who: Elementary students (including TK at all sites and grades 7–8 at Vieweg)
What: 1 hour of extended learning with a certificated teacher
When: During ELOP Homework Time
Where: All elementary ELOP school sites
Why: To make up missed learning, recover attendance, and even “bank” time for future absences
Students remain in ELOP and can attend AR on days that work best for your family.

We are so grateful for our kitchen heroes who prepared amazing meals across every site. The attention to detail was outstanding:
Turkeys: Prepared in several different ways and with various seasonings to ensure delicious flavor profiles.
Sides: Creamy mashed potatoes smothered in rich gravy and green beans that were perfectly steamed and seasoned.
Breads: A wonderful variety was served, including rolls, biscuits (some enhanced with melted butter and sprinkled with brown sugar!), and delicious, from-scratch cornbread at Burroughs.
Desserts: The meals were finished off with yummy treats like apple cake, peach cobbler, and apple sweet potato cobbler.
The response was fantastic! Students came, they ate, and many even asked for more! This team goes above and beyond to provide nutritious and delicious meals that bring smiles to our students' faces.
