Welcome Back to School and Exciting Updates for the 2025-2026 Academic Year!

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! Our district and site teams have been working with care and enthusiasm to prepare campuses and classrooms for a joyful first day on Thursday, August 7. We’re thrilled to kick off a year filled with connection, growth, and innovation.

🌟 What’s New This Year

Reorganized & Reimagined Campuses
We’re proud to introduce a refreshed school landscape, featuring:

China Lake Junior High (7th-8th)
Pierce Academy of the Arts (TK-6th) and Vieweg STEM Academy (TK-8th), two dynamic magnet schools
High Desert School (7th-12th), our independent study school, with a new middle college program

Mobile-Friendly Website Experience
Our updated websites are now easier to navigate on mobile devices, giving families better access to timely updates and resources.

Updated Cell Phone Policy (per AB 3216)
In alignment with state requirements, all schools will implement a revised cell phone policy. Each school will share site-specific protocols—please review the full policy here.

Enrollment Processes & School Boundaries
Changes made last year are now in effect. You can confirm your student’s zoned school using the School Locator on our website. Updates have been reflected in our student system, Aeries.

Expanded Before & After School Programs
Great news: Every SSUSD elementary student now qualifies for no-cost extended learning opportunities through High Desert Leapin’ Lizards. Registration is open!

Transportation Updates
Routes and stops have been updated per Administrative Regulation 3541. Due to driver shortages, transportation to schools of choice is currently unavailable. We will reassess throughout the year and communicate any changes.
