Dear Families,

We are currently experiencing a district-wide phone service outage due to a fiber issue with Frontier. This is affecting all inbound and outbound external calls across our schools.

In the meantime, please continue to use Parent Square or email to communicate with your school site. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work with Frontier to resolve the issue.

🎶 Today marked a special milestone at China Lake Junior High — the debut performance of our Beginning Orchestra! While this annual tradition has long celebrated the musical journey of our youngest performers, this was the very first time it took place at the newly established China Lake Junior High. A truly historic moment! 🎻✨
Under the direction of Ms. Laura Olinger, the orchestra delivered a memorable performance. Ms. Olinger shared her excitement about the size of the ensemble. She credited the strong support of the music program throughout Sierra Sands Unified School District for making it all possible.
Here’s to new beginnings, proud traditions, and the power of music in our schools! 👏🎼

The Child Nutrition department recently welcomed two guest chefs for a week of hands-on training at several of our elementary kitchens. Staff from Las Flores, Pierce, and Richmond Child Nutrition had numerous opportunities to learn about kitchen efficiency, flavor profiles, and new compliant scratch recipes. The students enjoyed seeing professional chefs in the kitchen and were excited to sample the new recipes during breakfast and lunch. We received positive feedback from everyone to include these new recipes in our menus for the 2025-2026 school year!

Last week the Child Nutrition department celebrated our seniors at our second annual Senior Breakfast. Two special guests joined our district kitchen managers to utilize this event as a training opportunity and to make new delicious recipes for our graduating class. The students served themselves up a variety of yummy food; sausage egg burritos w fresh salsa verde, roasted breakfast potatoes, maple pancake bites, bread pudding w a honey cream cheese glaze, and yogurt parfait cups w fresh baked granola. Thank you seniors for being respectful and taking a moment to thank your lunch lady from past and present. We are all very proud of you!
